Cryogenic Energy Storage for Renewable Refrigeration and Power Supply

 

Sofia UniversityProf Kostadin Fikiin (Technical University Sofia, Bulgaria, leader of the CryoHub ‘energy mapping’ Work Package) has recently been debriefed on behalf of DG Energy, European Commission, and gave a comprehensive phone interview during 1 h and 30 min to an interviewer from Ricardo Energy & Environment (ee.ricardo.com). This hearing was part of a review of the Horizon 2020 (H2020) programme’s support to secure, clean and efficient energy (Energy Challenge) under the responsibility of DG Energy. The questions concerned the experience from the ongoing CryoHub project against the background of H2020, comparing H2020 with FP6/7 and IEE, along with recommendations fr the future. The information provided will be summarised and included in a dedicated report to be published by the Commission in due course.

 

Raising the awareness of cryogenic energy storage

In 2016 the CryoHub technology was popularised and promoted by Kostadin Fikiin (Technical University Sofia, Bulgarian team leader for CryoHub) who delivered dedicated presentations at two relevant international events, as follows:

 

CryoHub is preparing a dissemination plan and representatives of the 14 partner organisations who comprise the CryoHub project team will be presenting at key industry events on the latest developments with this innovative initiative.
