CryoHub is now part of ‘Bridge’, a cooperation group established in November 2015 for all Smart-Grid and Storage projects funded under Horizon 2020 (http://horizon2020-story.eu/bridge/).  Dr Jonathan Radcliffe, from the University of Birmingham leading the ‘policy’ Work Package of CryoHub, is a member of the Bridge Regulations Group, which aims to:

  • Identify the main current regulation issues hampering innovative projects’ use cases & suggest future regulations to facilitate their deployment.
  • Elaborate a set of experience-based recommendations for regulation issues for efficient integration of Storage and Smart Grids in Europe.

The first annual report will be published in Mach 2017.

At its meeting in January 2017, Dr Radcliffe was asked to be a rapporteur for the group as it responds to the Commission's “Clean Energy for All Europeans” proposal, which was released in November 2016 (http://ec.europa.eu/energy/en/news/commission-proposes-new-rules-consumer-centred-clean-energy-transition). A number of the proposed measures relate directly to how energy storage could be treated in energy markets, and the role for innovation as part of the transition to a low carbon economy. Lessons from H2020 projects will inform the thinking as the package is considered by the Parliament and Member States.

Questo progetto ha ricevuto un finanziamento da parte del programma dell’Unione europea HORIZON2020 per la ricerca e l’innovazione sotto l’accordo numero 69176
